Few things are everlasting. As permanent as mountains appear they wear down across time. Much in our lives is there for a season: friends, jobs, health, economic standing all come and go. One of the few things that has proved constant in my life is the presence of my mom. I’ve always known she would be there, wanting the best for me, being a constant in a changing world.
Her faithful presence to me has helped me grasp what Psalm 93 says of God’s presence: “your throne is established from of old; you, God, are from everlasting.” In the midst of all that changes in our lives, the presence of God is permanent.
This Sunday, we’ll give thanks for the permanent love of our moms that teaches us of the everlasting love of God.
