Grace Notes: events, opportunities, announcements for 6-10-18

As we head into another political and holiday season, many are afraid to face those uncomfortable conversations. Summer family trips, front yard chats, dinner table discussions all make for an uneasy situation. As our country and world becomes more divided, we need to stop avoiding these opportunities to connect on a deep level with others. We need to find a way to share what motivates us, what excites us, and how we see the world. It is imperative if we are to be fishers of men, that we can openly discuss any topic at any time.

Sticky Conversations (taught by Kelley Ahlers) will guide you through the way to change what feels uncomfortable into something that will connect you on a deeper level. Through this 5-week short term class, we will look at how to hear and be heard with lessons on everything from voice tone and body language to connections that will help others see through your eyes. From talking to your children and parents to a random person on the street, you will have a tool kit to find a way to make any conversation a positive one. All ages are invited to attend.

Grace’s Chancel Choir to Sing at The Anchor Church-Grace’s Chancel Choir will be “outside Grace’s walls” on Sunday, June 24. The choir will help lead the worship experience at The Anchor Church, downtown Wilmington, at its 9 a.m. service. Philip Chryst serves as The Anchor Church’s pastor. Please keep Graces’ Chancel Choir and that congregation in your prayers.

Gracelettes June Outing and Mission-Meet on June 21 at Wrightsville Beach Park at 6:30 pm for the Sounds of Summer Concert – be sure to bring a blanket or chair and picnic dinner. The Gracelettes will be collecting paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, napkins) for the SECU Hospitality House. Hospitality House provides an affordable place for families to stay when they have loved ones in the hospital. See you on June 21 at 6:30!
