MUSIC MINISTRY | Praise Through Song

Grace UMC is known for its quality music ministries program. Music is a gift from God and there is no better way to share in God’s blessing than by offering your time and talents in service to Grace’s music ministry. The music program offers an adult choir (Chancel Choir) and a hand bell choir (Grace Ringers).

New music participants are welcomed. If you would like more information about the music program, please email the Director of Music Ministries, Jerry Cribbs, at

UMW | Faith, Hope, And Love In Action

United Methodist Women (UMW) is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members worldwide whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice. Members bring in up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.

At Grace, our UMW is a vibrant, active group dedicated to developing fellowship, supporting missions, fostering growth in Christian faith, mission education and social involvement. Our social participation includes preparing migrant worker kits, assembling Baptismal boxes and financially supporting numerous community organizations like the Salvation Army, Good Shepherd House, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, Wilmington Interfaith Hospitality Network and Sunset Park Elementary School.

Our UMW Day Circle meets the first Tuesday of every month at 10:30 a.m. in the church activity center for lunch and featured guest speakers from area agencies such as the Center for Redemption, Full Belly Project, Christian Woman’s Job Core and Guardian Ad Litem.

Grace UMW’s Agape Circle meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Bridal Suite. Both Circles provide opportunities for service and interaction with other women of the church. Please contact the church office for more information on Grace’s United Methodist Women.

Our mission is to nurture the members of Grace UMC by providing opportunities for support and socialization. The Nurture Committee is truly the backbone of Grace UMC and keeps all our ministry and fellowship groups thriving. Joining this committee is a wonderful way to truly learn about and meet our diverse congregation.

Representatives from our various ministry and fellowship groups attend the Nurture Committee meetings to share their ideas, needs, and event calendars. By doing this, the Nurture Committee helps keep The Holy Spirit strong and vibrant at Grace UMC while fostering a sense of community across the many generations at Grace UMC.

The Nurture Committee meets six times a year on the first Monday of the meeting month at 5:00pm in the upstairs office area. If you are interested in becoming actively involved in this amazing ministry please contact our church office for more information by emailing or calling our office at 910.763.5197.

LAY SHEPHERDS | Supporting One Another

This ministry was organized in order for lay persons in the congregation to provide a caring ministry to Grace families. The Lay Shepherds strengthen and encourage one another in faith by providing Christian care through visits, phone calls, cards, and prayer.

In good times and in trying times the shepherds serve as a caring presence for their assigned congregation members. The shepherds are supported and trained through monthly meetings with one another.

The Martha Ministry provides support to families and individuals who need an extra pair of hands during a crisis. The death or serious illness of a loved one is an intense and painful experience for most people. Having the right support makes all of the difference.  Our Martha Ministry provides that extra set of helping hands.

This ministry provides meals and other services, such as sitting, picking up medications and groceries to members who are ill or have been hospitalized for any reason.

Tending to basic food and household needs is also difficult after the loss of a loved one. Many people find their homes filled with out of town friends and family members.  The Martha Ministry can coordinate church volunteers to bring meals to our Grace families and provide receptions during bereavement.

All members of Grace United Methodist Church are encouraged to be active participants in our Martha Ministry.  Everyone involved in this ministry is blessed as we reach out in love and kindness to those who are hurting.  For more information or to become a participant in Martha Ministry, contact the church office.

PRAYER SHAWLS | Wrapping Our Lives In God’s Blessings

Grace UMC members combine compassion and love of knitting into a powerful ministry that provides prayer shawls to those in need of comfort as well as in celebration. The shawl maker prays for the recipient throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered by our pastor and congregation during Sunday worship, then the shawl is sent on its way to members, family and friends in need of prayer. Another special blessing and time of prayer is offered when the gift is presented.

Shawls can be used for those undergoing medical procedures, comfort after a loss or the birth of a baby–there are endless possibilities. Our past recipients testify to experiencing the love of God and the love of Grace UMC’s congregation as they embrace the shelter and warmth of the shawl.

Members donate their time and talent to this ministry by knitting or crocheting beautiful prayer shawls individually or communally at 5:00pm Sunday evenings at the church. A nursery is provided.

A history of this worldwide ministry, sample prayers, and instructions for knitting or crocheting shawls can be found at Please contact the Grace office for more information or to request a shawl for yourself, family member or friend.

Together we wrap our lives in God’s blessings.
